Bitcoin Now in EPL: English Premier League Club Signs Deal with Options of getting paid Bonuses in Bitcoin

Southampton a member of the English Premier League, currently occupying the 13th position on the league table. according to a recent report, the club signed a new sponsorship deal which opens them to receive bonuses in bitcoin.

The deal with Coingaming Group as their main partner for an extended duration of three years comes with an option for the EPL club to receive certain performance-based bonuses in bitcoin.

As part of the agreement, Sportsbet.io a brand of Coingaming group will continue as the club's sponsor. 

On April 8, the club explained in a statement the rationale behind its decision to include bonuses paid out in bitcoin, saying:

Bitcoin bonus opens the club to new opportunities to take advantage of the flagship digital asset growth, feeling it will bring massive benefits in the future.

The club's statement also revealed that Southampton FC can authorize to get paid in Bitcoin at the end of the season for the duration of the deal.

However, David Thomson the Southampton FC Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) stated as they reveal the new sponsorship deal.

Thomas said:

"Sportsbet.io team have built a successful company disrupting the market but in a very responsible way. Also their approach to our partnership with them has been no different."

The sponsorship deal now makes Southampton Football Club the first team in England Top league to embrace bitcoin.
