According to Blockdata, Alphabet, the parent company of Google, took part in four investment rounds that raised a combined $1.5 billion.
Approximately $6 billion was invested in blockchain startups by 40 of the largest firms in the world between September 2021 and June 2022, according to a Blockdata analysis that examined the investment activities of the top 100 publicly traded companies by market cap.
Blockdata argued that it is impossible to ascertain the amount given by each participant in a round and instead utilized the size of the fundraising rounds as a proxy for overall investment. With 13 investments, Samsung was the most active company. Alphabet (GOOGL), the parent company of Google, took part in four funding rounds, the largest of which garnered $1.5 billion for blockchain and cryptocurrency-related businesses.
The survey emphasizes how widely used blockchain technology and the cryptocurrency market are. The largest asset manager in the world, BlackRock (BLK), participated in rounds worth $1.2 billion, and Morgan Stanley (MS) raised $1.1 billion.
Alphabet made investments in four businesses, including Fireblocks, a provider of crypto custody technology, the parent company of CoinDesk, Dapper Labs, a developer of the Flow blockchain, Voltage, and the investment firm Digital Currency Group.
Blockworks had previously reported on the study.
